Cub Scout and Webelos Resident Camp
There are so many opportunities all summer long to keep the OUT in ScOUTing! One of those is Cub Scout and/or Webelos Resident Camps provided by the Longhorn Council. Outdoor Adventures and Camping for Cub Scouts at Cub Scout and Webelos Resident Camp! Registration is open!
A great perk of attending -- your Scout can earn his Outdoor Activity Award. Day Camp and/or Resident Camp is mandatory to earn this.
Pack your bags and join us for camping adventures and Cub Scout summer fun! Three Webelos sessions (for Webelos and AOL) and three Cub Scout sessions are available. Cub Scout and Webelos Camps help bring outdoor fun and learning to your Cub Scout summer! Camps take place at Worth Ranch near Palo Pinto and Camp Tahuaya near Belton. You’ll go rock climbing, go swimming and have fun water fights each day! Try our fleet of new Sit-on-Top Kayaks at Camp Tahuaya. Hike Kyle Mountain at Worth Ranch.
Leaders and adults attending Resident Camp who would like to help teach or staff programs should contact the Camping Registrar at camping@longhorn.org
You’ll spend lots of time in the pool and fighting water battles. All Cub Scouts and parents are invited to bring water blasters (not shaped like a gun), squirt bottles, water balloons,etc. Leaders and parents should keep the water toys, except during designated water battles.
All tents, meals, eating utensils, program materials and equipment are provided by the camp for each camper. The camp does not provide cots or mattresses for the campers. A limited number of cots may be rented for $5 per camp session on a first-come first-served basis.
If you’re the only member of your Pack attending camp, you can be an “Explorer” camper. An adult camping partner, must accompany each “Explorer” camper, in accordance with BSA’s Cub Scout Family Camping rules. You’ll make new friends and camp with other “Explorer” Cub Scouts and parents from Packs all over the Longhorn Council
PARENT ORIENTATION MEETING
The orientation meeting for adults coming to camp, will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Longhorn Council offices the Wednesday before your camp session starts. Orientation Meetings for Worth Ranch sessions will be held at the Hurst office. Orientation Meetings for Camp Tahuaya sessions will be held at the Waco office and the Hurst office.
LEADERSHIP REQUIREMENTS
All adults (18 and older) must turn in a completed Camp Adult Info Form to the Camp Director on arrival at camp. Each Pack, Den, or family attending must turn in a Texas Camp Adult Roster prior to arriving at camp.
All units in camp MUST BE under the direct leadership of two adults at all times, one must be at least 21 years old and the other at least 18 years old. Adults may rotate with other parents or leaders; however, at least two qualified adults must remain in camp with the unit 24 hours daily while in camp. All adults in camp must have a current BSA youth protection card (good for two years).

REQUIRED HEALTH FORMS
Every adult and youth camper must have a completed BSA Medical form, Parts A, B, and C. This form does require a doctor’s exam. The Health Department requires immunization dates and parent signatures on all health forms.
Deposits
A non-refundable deposit of $25.00 per person attending with their unit or $30.00 per Explorer and adult, along with your completed reservation application is due by the Initial Deposit and Registration Deadline. The deposit applies to your total camp fee; there is no difference in the final fee for Explorer campers.
After the initial deposit deadline, a late fee of $10 will apply. Individual reservations and fees are accepted until the late registration deadline. After the late registration deadline, no reservation will be accepted without the Camp Director’s permission.

- Register Individually. Set up your own family’s registration account and enter all of the data for each person you are registering.

Cub Scout Outdoor Activity Award
This is one of the COOL awards that is a patch sewn directly onto the pocket flap. It can be earned EVERY YEAR of your Cub Scout's scouting career with different requirements for each rank. The first year is the patch, after that it's pins that are pinned onto the patch.
First and foremost, to earn this award -- attendance at CUB SCOUT DAY CAMP OR RESIDENT CAMP is a must! So, have YOU saved the date for Day Camp? It's an AWESOME 4-day experience for the boys and the Mustang District puts on one of THE best and largest Day Camps in our Council! Click HERE for more information on Day Camp and how to register.

Back to the Outdoor Activity Award. . . Scouts would start working on this award after school is over this year and therefore, it will apply toward their NEW Scout rank which they begin working on the first day of summer. They will have the ENTIRE YEAR to meet the requirements of that year's rank-specific criteria. Since Day Camp and/or Resident camp are mandatory for this award, now is a GREAT time to save the date so your Scout can earn this award!

ALL RANKS
Attend Cub Scout day camp or Cub Scout/Webelos Scout resident camp and do the following:
Rank-Specific:
TIGER Complete the Backyard Jungle adventure from the Tiger Handbook, and complete four of the outdoor activities listed below.
WOLF Complete the Paws on the Path adventure from the Wolf Handbook, and complete five of the outdoor activities listed below.
BEAR Complete the Bear Necessities adventure from the Bear Handbook, and complete six of the outdoor activities listed below.
WEBELOS: Complete the Webelos Walkabout adventure from the Webelos Handbook, and complete seven of the outdoor activities listed below.
Outdoor Activities for all Ranks
These activities must be in addition to any similar activities counted for rank advancement, and can be accomplished as a family, den, or pack.
- Participate in a nature hike in your local area. This can be on an organized, marked trail or just a hike to observe nature in your area.
- Participate in an outdoor activity such as a picnic or park fun day.
- Explain the buddy system and tell what to do if lost. Explain the importance of cooperation.
- Attend a pack overnighter. Be responsible by being prepared for the event.
- Complete an outdoor service project in your community.
- Complete a nature/conservation project in your area. This project should involve improving, beautifying, or supporting natural habitats. Discuss how this project helped you to respect nature.
- Earn the Summertime Pack Award.
- Participate in a nature observation activity. Describe or illustrate and display your observations at a den or pack meeting.
- Participate in an outdoor aquatics activity. This can be an organized swim meet or just a den, pack, or family swim.
- Participate in an outdoor campfire program. Perform in a skit, sing a song, or take part in a ceremony.
- Participate in an outdoor sporting event.
- Participate in an outdoor interfaith or other worship service.
- Explore a local city, county, state, or national park. Discuss with your den how a good citizen obeys the park rules.
- Invent an outside game and play it outside with friends for 30 minutes.

Cub Scout (Tiger, Wolf and Bear) are one program and Webelos are another but they run concurrently at each camp.
The cost is $120 for youth, $50 for adults. It's 3 nights of camping at each location.

Pack 1910 Summer Adventures
We set up a specific four-year schedule of different activities so that, for your Scout's entire Cub Scout career, he wouldn't be participating in the same thing summer after summer.
Cub Scouts is a year-round program and our Pack makes the most of each summer to bring opportunities for our Scouts to stay engaged and involved all year long!
We will be utilizing the Sign-up Genius to track RSVP's for these events. This helps the adult coordinators know which Scouts to expect so that no one is left behind. Also, a few of these event require advance deposits. Once you RSVP, you will be contacted to confirm how you wish to pay. PayPal invoices can be sent via e-mail or checks mailed to the treasurer.
One important thing to note -- Please be sure you are RSVPing -- even if it is a "no" -- so that we know you received the invitation information. The courtesy of a reply is greatly appreciated.
Please understand that many of these programs we are planning on require not only a minimum number of participants and as stated previously, a deposit. If you RSVP and are not able to attend, you will still need to pay your portion as it likely has already been covered by the Pack or, alternatively, find a family to go in your place and have them reimburse you. Most of these events do not allow refunds. Thank you for your understanding.

...that by joining us for just one event a month, your scout is eligible for the National Summertime Achievement Award? These are rank specific, color-coordinated very cool special pins to place on their uniform to show off their involvement.
If enough of his den participates, they will earn the Summertime Award for their DEN! And, collectively, if enough of our Scouts participate all summer long, our PACK earns the National Summertime Pack Award! How cool is THAT? Awards will be presented at the Scout level during the September Pack meeting.
