Recharter

It’s time again to recharter our Pack with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA).  As part of this process, each Scout and leader must register for the upcoming year (this includes payment of registration dues and ensuring your Health Form (part A & B) is current). While our Pack operates on a SCHOOL calendar of June - May, registration dues for everyone are paid on a January-December basis.

Recharter dues for returning scouts is $120 ($10 per month)

Arrow of Light scouts are $75
(this reduction is because they cross over into Boy Scouts in late February)

FEE EXPLANATION

1) National Dues – this fee is paid directly to the Boy Scouts of America and registers your Cub Scout for the period January through December. The annual National Dues are $26.50 ($24 registration fee plus $2.50 for accident insurance) per Cub Scout.

2) Boys’ Life Fee – Boys' Life is the monthly magazine for the Boy Scouts of America. It’s a fantastic read that reinforces Scouting and the good family values that are part of our program. While registration for Boys’ Life is optional, we feel that the content is so important and relevant, we choose to make this part of your registration payment. Therefore, we incorporate that fee into the dues as well. For more information, visit: www.boyslife.org Boy's Life is $1 per month, so $12 annually, per Scout.

3) Pack Fee – $81.50 (about $7 per month) The Pack charges an annual Pack Fee to help cover the cost of running the Pack. This fee includes all program costs and is set each year by the Pack Committee. At the very basic level, this covers your scout's rank specific handbook ($13) provided at joining, the rank specific neckerchief ($10) and corresponding slide ($6) as well along with a Pack T-shirt ($11). It also cover the rank specific neckerchief ($10), handbook ($13) and slide ($6) for their NEXT rank which they receive at the graduation ceremony in May. It also includes all awards, badges, patches, pins, Webelos activity badges, adventure loops, as well as a pinewood derby car kit, a rain gutter regatta kit, the Pack 1910 unit patches for their uniform ($6) and the Pack 1910 brag vest patch ($6) as well as all patches for participation along with all of the materials associated with monthly Pack meetings/ceremonies/activities. As you can see, there is great deal of tangible goods that each scout receives annually just for doing what they do! This doesn't even cover the other costs... just what our BOYS receive.

Thus, we rely heavily on fundraising to ensure an awesome program for our youth. Simply stated, Popcorn sales fuels Cub Scouts.

Membership renewals are due no later than the November Committee / Parent meeting so that we know you are continuing your path with Pack 1910 into 2018.

Checks should be made payable to Pack 1910. If you would like to pay via credit card, that can be done as well through Paypal. For your convenience, we have set up a Payments page on our blog to enable parents to utilize PayPal. Be sure you are choosing the correct membership fee structure as there are lists for RECHARTER of current members, NEW members, AOL recharters as well as TRANSFERS. Choose wisely.

Without registration payment commitments, we cannot recharter your Scout. Awards and rank cannot be recorded for unregistered Scouts.

Remember, the fun things we do at the Pack meetings, the prizes, awards, rank insignia, handbooks, patches and all that the pack provides is funded only by dues and fundraisers. We budget and rely on that commitment from every family each year.

Families new to Pack 1910 should be paid up by now and therefore, recharter dues do not apply *unless* you have not yet paid for 2018 at the time of registration.

While we try to streamline this as much as process, there IS paper involved -- we need a new health form for anyone that hasn't submitted one within the last year. Links are below.

Thank you for your assistance in making this as painless and streamlined of a process as possible. I appreciate everyone's prompt attention to this matter.
If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours in Scouting,

Amber Walker
Membership Chair

Raingutter Regatta, Registration and Recruitment (R4)

We are a couple of weeks away from our last Pack summer adventure -- the Annual Raingutter Regatta.  This is our highly anticipated end of summer back to school blast and we look forward to seeing you all there.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 26
3-6pm
UMC-Keller Scout House
1025 Johnson Road

Kits will be available next week. Watch for an e-mail from Scoutbook! If you can't wait or want to make more than one kit (for a sibling), the kits are also readily available at the Scoutshop on Cannon Drive.

The "official" rules and regulations on this event can be found by clicking {HERE} Be sure that you have logged into Scoutbook and RSVP'd so that we know you're coming. Big things to note -- use the kit, be sure to paint it so that the wood is sealed, don't attach the sail, but most importantly -- HAVE FUN!

What to bring?
  • Completed regatta boat
  • Portable camp chairs for your family
  • Drinks for your family
This is a BRING YOUR OWN DRINK event. No glass containers please.

We will be cooking hot dogs for the family too!  Come join the fun. Each scout who participates earns a raingutter regatta patch for their brag vest.

Have a friend interested in Scouting? This is a great introductory activity to show them all the fun we have in Pack 1910. This is the official day to JOIN PACK 1910!

This is our August sign-up night so if you have a friend interested, pick up a peer-to-peer recruiting card from April and have your friend turn it when they join!  In return, your scout earns his RECRUITER patch!

Cub Scout Sign Up Night

It's time to kick off a new year in Pack 1910 and we want YOU to join us!  Our annual Cub Scout Sign Up night will be Tuesday, September 1 at 6:30 p.m.

If you picked up a flier at Ridgeview Elementary's Meet the Teacher or at our Raingutter Regatta, this is the night we've been talking about!  Are you ready to see what all Pack 1910 has in store for YOU this year?  Be sure to stop by Tuesday night, September 1, and sign up with the Pack!

WHO:       Boys in 1st - 5th grade in the Keller and surrounding areas
WHAT:     Cub Scout Pack 1910 Sign Up Night
WHERE:    First United Methodist Church of Keller, Hallelujah Center
                1025 Johnson Road, Keller
COST:     $115 through NEXT December!  ($40 for this year and $75 for all of next year)
WHEN:      Tuesday, September 1, 6:30 pm - 8:00 p.m. come and go
WHY:        Because -- IT IS FUN!

Scouting promotes and encourages family togetherness.  Time is a valuable commodity and what better way to spend it than investing in lasting memories with your son.  More than ever, today’s families struggle to find time to spend together. Cub Scouting helps to support your family by providing ready-made opportunities for you and your son to do things together.
Your son needs to belong to a group of boys his own age. Through this sense of belonging, he builds his self-esteem and learns to get along with others. As a parent, you want to be assured that the groups that your boy joins will teach values consistent with good citizenship, character development, physical fitness and spiritual growth. The Boy Scouts of America has been weaving these lifetime values into fun and educational activities since 1910.
In a society where your son is taught that winning is everything, Cub Scouting teaches him to “do his best” and to be helpful to others.  Servant leadership.

He will learn to live by the code of “On my honor.”

But... we know that boys do not join Cub Scouting to get their character built.  Boys join Scouts.... because it's fun!!!

Our program is full but it's not complete without YOU!  If you are unable to attend Cub Scout Sign Up Night, please complete the informational form on the website and someone from our membership committee will be in touch with you shortly. However, the best way to start is to jump in with both feet and be ready to have fun!

Your adventure starts Tuesday!  We look forward to meeting you!
