The father of Scouting would have been 159 today.
Happy Birthday to Lieutenant General Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell, 1st Baron Baden-Powell, OM GCMG GCVO KCB DL He was a lieutenant-general in the British Army, writer, founder of the Scout Movement and first Chief Scout of The Boy Scouts Association.
In 1907 at Brownsea Island, he held the first camp to test out his ideas of boy leadership and the rest is history. We wouldn't be here without the vision of one person -- proof that one person can make a difference.
